TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Trade Ministry seeks to explore new markets and boost the country’s exports to Europe to US$458.8 billion in 2019.
The ministry’s director for market development and export information of the National Export Development Directorate General, Ari Satria, said the ministry was formulating market approach strategies for the European market, among them by sustaining Indonesia’s existing markets, both traditional and non-traditional ones.
“We will also expand to new markets by stepping up exports of added-value products,” he said on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
He explained the structure of export products would be revised from the present 37 percent manufactured products and 63 percent primary products to 65 percent and 35 percent, respectively. He added the figure was set according to the global import demands that called for more manufactured products.
Ari said Indonesia also hoped Europe would make Indonesia its global production basis for European Union (EU) industries. “We will also offer mutual cooperation,” he said.
The ministry is set to dispatch its delegates to Europe on a trade mission that would last from April 29-May 5, 2015 on Tuesday. The delegates are slated to visit a number of European countries, including Denmark, Italy and Poland.
