TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Chief of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Sr.Comm. Budi Widjanarko, said that the Police is ready to deploy 18,307 personnel to secure the International Labor Day on May 1. Security personnel will be deployed in locations where demonstrations often occur.
"According to information [receied by the Police], there will be 75,000 laborers protesting on the Hotel Indonesia roundabout and in front of the Presidential Palace," Budi said in his office on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
Budi said that based on a notification received by the Police, protesters from various labor unions will rally together at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout at around 10am on May 1, 2015. The laborers will then march together to the Presidential Palace.
