TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The South Jakarta District Court has ruled against the pretrial lawsuit lodged by Jero Wacik to challenge his naming as a suspect in a graft case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Judge Sihar Purba viewed that the lawsuit filed by the former Energy and Mineral Resources minister was not a pretrial object.
"[The court] declared to reject the petition made by the appealer," Sihar Purba said on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, adding that the suspect naming was already consistent with the sufficient evidence that was free of political interests.
Earlier on February 6, 2015, the KPK named Jero Wacik as a graft suspect for allegedly misusing his authority at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, thus causing an estimated state loss of Rp7 billion (US$538,461). The KPK also named Jero as a suspect in an suspected extortion case in connection with a number of programs at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
Jero then filed a pretrial motion against the KPK with the South Jakarta District Court on March 30, 2015.
