TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A roaring sound was heard near Kuda mountain mine, Dukuhpuntang subdistrict, Cirebon. Moments later, a 70-meter height cliff collapsed and terrifyingly burying four workers, a truck driver, and an operator who were digging at Sunday noon, April 26. “They were working inside the mine,” said an eyewitness, Arudin.
Dukuhpuntang Precinct Chief Sudarman said that his men is still trying to evacuate the buried workers. “Two buried workers have been evacuated; the driver and the operator,” he said.
Sudarman confirmed that Kuda mountain has been used to dig natural stones and that it was managed by Bumi Karya village cooperative unit (KUD). Based on the information gathered, there are at least four people still trapped underneath the landslide.
It is still unknown why those workers were working on the weekend.
