TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Social Ministry will be sending 150 Tagana, or Taruna Siaga Bencana personnel to help the humanitarian mission in Nepal.
“Our deepest condolences for the earthquake disaster in Nepal and immediately puts 150 Tagana personnel on standby who are ready to be delivered anytime,” Social Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa said in Jakarta on Monday.
The ministry have also prepared aid packages in the forms of blankets, clothings and foods.
It is winter there, so clothings and foods are needed by the Nepalese. Other aids including medical personnels, SAR assistance, tents and mecidines will also be put on standby.
“The social ministry will be coordinating with the foreign ministry related to the aid shipment. However, concerning the amount and other assistance will still await for further directions from the President,” Khofifah said.
There are currently 34 Indonesian citizens in Nepal, 18 staying and 16 recorded to be visiting either as tourists or on official activities.
At least 17 people have successfully been contacted and are in a health condition. Due to the earthquake, communication networks has been disrupted so it is difficult to make contact.
