TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Fourteen Indonesian archers will take part in the 2015 World Championship in Shanghai, China, which will be held from May 4 to 11.
The national archery coach Denny Trisyanto said the world championship is part of the pre-SEA Games preparation that will be held in Singapore in June.
The athletes previously participated in the Asian championship in Bangkok in March, with Riau Ega Agatha Salsabila nabbing four gold medals in the singles round and one silver in the team round with Ika Yuliana Rochmawati.
Ika broke her own national record with a score of 650, and won the bronze medal in the last two-round 70-meter recurve women's singles.
Denny hopes that the positive results in the Asian championship will not make the archers complacent and continue to push for better achievements. The Indonesian archery team is aiming for three gold medals, two silvers, and two bronzes in the next SEA Games.
"We are optimistic that we can achieve that," the coach said.
