TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Sugarcane Farmer Association (APTRI) Muhammad Arum Sabil gave his appreciation to the Minister of State-owned Enterprises Rini M Soemarno for her willingness to meet with sugar cane farmers.

"Her willingness to meet with the famers was not only to listen to aspirations from the farmers, but also as an effort to find the root of the problems faced by the farmers and find concrete solutions,” Arum said in Kudus, Central Java on Saturday.

He also said that the measure made by the Minister was quite focused in finding the root of the problems.

The measure that he referred to is by providing equity capital to revitalize sugar cane plants, he said, is one of the evidence to help farmers find the solutions to their problems.

"Equity capital from the state worth Rp3.5 trillion to revitalize sugar cane plants owned by the state also serves as an evidence of her hard work,” he said.

Through the revitalization program, the real impacts felt by the farmers are the increase in the sugar content because the production machines are better than before.

To bring better prosperity to farmers, he said, cooperation from all parties is needed, including a synergy between State-owned Ministry, Trade Ministry, and Agriculture Ministry.
