TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Alfindra Primaldhi, a researcher at the Center of Terrorism and Psychological and Social Conflict Study of the University of Indonesia, said that at least 80 percent of Indonesia is still experiencing social imbalances.
“8 out of 10 Indonesians are still experiencing social imbalance,” he said at Jakarta on Saturday.
The social imbalances, he said, can be translated into salary gap, resources gap, as well as power and status gap in the society.
There are 10 sources of imbalances that the survey asked to 2,500 respondents. Those ten sources are salary, wealth, family’s welfare, education, job opportunities, houses, neighborhood, law, health, as well as involvement in politics.
“Salary, wealth, and neighborhood are the ones that play crucial role in creating social imbalances in the society,” Alfin said.
The survey was conducted from January to March 2015.
Furthermore, the survey also revealed that 50.7 percent of the respondents said that their salaries are not adequate, while 44.4 percent that they salaries have met their expectations, and only 4.9 percent sad that the salaries are beyond their expectations.
