TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government will adopt Australia’s employment standards to be applied in the country’s worker certification ahead of the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
“All of our employment sectors use the standards adopted from Australia’s. The Australian government has allowed us to do that,” Sumarna Abdurahman, the head of the National Board for Certification of Professions (BNSP), said on Friday, April 24, 2015.
Included in the employment sectors to implement the Australia’s standards are airlines, online services, tourism, health, logistics, agricultural-based products, automotive, electronics, rubber products, textiles, fisheries and wood products.
Tourism will be the first sector to implement the Australia’s employment standards, while logistics will be the last.
“There is no restriction in using standards from other countries. Australia has a good standardization and it is implemented by other ASEAN countries, such as Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia,” Sumarna said.
