TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eman Suparman, the Judicial Commission’s member of judge monitoring and investigation, said his institution has scheduled a probe next week into Sarpin Rizaldi, the sole judge ruling in favor of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan’s pretrial lawsuit. According to Eman, the probe is aimed to accelerate the decision on an alleged ethics violation committed by Sarpin.
“Everything is being processed, but we hope that it will be settled soon,” Eman told Tempo on Friday, April 24, 2015.
Eman added that the Judicial Commission will clarify the findings based on the previous investigation results. However, Eman declined to specify the findings resulted in by the investigation that has been ongoing for almost two months.
Earlier on April 2, 2015, the Commission summoned Sarpin to the Jakarta High Court, but Sarpin failed to appear. Eman hopes that Sarpin would be more cooperative by appearing on April 28, 2015.
Eman, who also serves as the chairman of the panel probing Sarpin, denied that the investigation into the judge was postponed due to an intervention. Eman said the Judicial Commission had to shift its focus on searching candidates for high judges for the period of 2015.
