Asian. African Leaders Take Part in Historical Walk

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Numerous High Level Meetings (Summits) of the sixtieth anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) have reached its peak and ended in Jakarta on Thursday, April 23, 2015. However, event on the AAC 60th commemoration has taken place in Bandung today, April 24, 2015.

Leaders of Asian and African countries, government officials, delegates of member countries and observers left the Savoy Homann and the Preanger Hotels to take a historical walk towards "Gedung Merdeka", the building where the first AAC took place 60 years ago on 1955.

Wearing their national attires and colors, participants of the historical walk received warm greetins and applause by the people who were watching along Jalan Asia Afrika in Bandung. More than 20 side events are scheduled to take place as part of the commemoration event. 

In his closing remarks, Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo stated that the Summits held in Jakarta have resulted in three important documents: the Bandung Message 2015, the Declaration on Reingvigorating the Asia-Africa News Strategic Partnership, and the Declaration on Palestine.
