Governor Wife Dismantles AAC Function Stage to Rescue Cat

30 November -0001 00:00 WIB

TEMPO/Aditya Herlambang Putra

TEMPO.CO, Bandung – Netty Prasetyani, the wife of West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, forced workers to dismantle a wooden stage set up for a planned luncheon for the delegates of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) 60th anniversary commemoration as one of her Persian cats was found trapped under it.

“The cat went missing on Monday. We searched everywhere the next day, but to no avail,” Netty told Tempo on Wednesday. The cat was finally found under the wooden stage, whose height was about a span of an adult’s hand, set up behind the Pakuan Building, the official residence of the West Java Governor.

A workers’ supervisor tried to reason with Netty, saying it was impossible to dismantle the stage as it had been completely set up. But in the end, the stage was taken to bits and the cat was rescued.

“If I found my cat dead after the event, I would regret it for the rest of my life,” said Netty, who keeps eight Persian cats.

AAC delegates are scheduled to arrive in the venue on Thursday after the peak event of the AAC.
