TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Budi Waseso, Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police confirmed that the fat account case involving Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan has entered its final chapter. The Police have derived a conclusion and decided to conduct a follow up on the case that has been handed over by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to the Attorney General Office, which later turned the case’s documents to the Police.
"Legally, it is valid for the case to be dismissed," said Budi Waseso at the National Police headquarter on April 23, 2015. Budi said that the case had been handled by the Police before. "The files still exists until I [assume the position of the Chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit]," Budi said. "It is even more complete compared to the current documents [I received from the KPK]."
Budi ensured that the investigation on the case involving Budi Gunawan has been conducted independently in several stages.
Previously, the KPK had determined Budi Gunawan as a suspect in a case on suspicious financial transactions, a move which sparked conflict between the KPK and the Police.
