Housing Loan Likely to Grow on LTV Decline

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A number of banks project an increase in housing loans following the Financial Services Authority's decision to ease the rule on housing and vehicles' loan to value (LTV).
With the easing, housing down payment will decline from the current rate of 20-30 percent.
Tony Tardjo, head of consumer lending at Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk, said the plan would support the company's plan to push credit growth. This year, CIMB Niaga is targeting a 15 percent housing credit increase from last year's debit of Rp22.49 trillion.
Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk president director Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that consumption credit will grow higher due to the LTC easing.
"This will help customers in obtaining loans to purchase a house," he said.
By year-end, Mandiri is targeting to post a 15 percent housing credit growth from last year's Rp26.49 trillion.
