Jokowi to Foreign Investors: 'Any Problem, Call Me'

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Speaking at the 24th World Economic Forum East Asia (WEF) held at Shangri-La, Jakarta on April 20, 2015, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called on attending business owners to invest in Jakarta and guaranteed investment facilitation for about 700 business owners from 41 East Asian countries.
“If there’s any problem, just call me,”Jokowi said.
According to Jokowi, Indonesia is facing challenges, including those related to permit and infrastructure, in developing its industry. Jokowi has asked ministers to transparently reveal those challenges to investors.
Despite those challenges, Jokowi added, Indonesia has huge potentials to thrive given to large population, rich natural resources, vast areas, and growing economy.
“I hope you can find interesting opportunities after spending a week in Jakara,” Jokowi said to investors.
In addition to Jokowi, speaking at the forum were Cambodia PM Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Vietnam Deputy PM Nguyen Xian Phuc and Russian Federation Deputy PM Aarkady Dvorkovich. The leaders shared their views on the impact of global changes on the region.
