Tjahjo: Jokowi Needs No Spokesperson

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo does not need a spokesperson because the best spokesperson is Jokowi himself or Vice President Jusuf Kalla, with assistance from State Secretary Minister Pratikno and Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto.

"As the Home Affairs Minister, I disagree that the President must consider having a spokesperson," said Tjahjo on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

According to Tjahjo, Jokowi does not have to worry that his statements are beingmisinterpreted by the public. Tjahjo said that all ministers must be prepared to become Jokowi's 'bumpers'.

Previously, several political observers suggested President Jokowi to appoint a spokesperson so that he can focus on carrying out his presidential tasks. Several names were mentioned as the potential candidates, such as Putra Nababan, Eva Kusuma Sundari and Johan Budi S.P.
