TEMPO.CO, Makassar – Personnel from the National Police’s anti-terror special unit Detachment 88 (Densus 88), arrested Ambo Ece, 35, a suspected terrorist with alleged ties with Santoso’s terror cell in Bulutironge, Pitumpanua district, Wajo regency, South Sulawesi on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at around 6:30 a.m. local time.
"The operation involved 14 members of Densus 88,” said Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi Masmini, the chief of the South and West Sulawesi Police’s public relations unit, on Tuesday.
Masmini said Ambo was a resident of Bangsalae, Pitumpanan district, Wajo regency, who joined the East Indonesia Mujahidin group spearheaded by Santoso and Daeng Koro.
“He once joined military training in Walenrang and Poso,” Masmini said, adding that Ambo was suspected of involvement in the killings of two police officers of the Poso Police—Adj. First Insp. Sudirman and Brigadier Andi Sapa—in Tamanjeka, Poso.
