TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The government plans to temporarily close Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Airport and Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport to commercial flights in light of the 60th commemoration of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) in a bid to facilitate flights carrying the conference’s delegates.
“On April 24, 2015 from 5:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Halim will be closed to commercial flights,” Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan said in his office on Monday, April 20, 2015.
Jonan said the closure would only apply for the day, while 20-23, 25 and 26 April would only see Notice to Airmen (Notam) of expected delays. “Delays are inevitable,” he said.
Jonan added the closure at Husein Sastranegara Airport, meanwhile, would be longer—beginning April 23, 2015 at 4 p.m.-April 24, 2015 at 9 p.m.
“We will send regular Notice to Airmen of expected delays,” Jonan said.
