TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin finally fulfilled the summoning from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Alex will be questioned for the alleged corruption on the development of Wisma Atlet and Serbaguna Building case in South Sumatra during 2010-11.
He arrived in the KPK’s office at 8:40am but did not say much. “Later,” Alex said on Monday, April 20.
Alex then quickly entered the lobby and smiled without saying a word.
KPK have previously summoned Alex twice to be questioned as witness for the suspect Rizal Abdullah. On March 24, KPK sent its first summon to Alex, but the Golkar politician failed to attend. The same happened on April 16, this time saying he has to attend an important activity.
KPK has set Rizal Abdullah as a suspect since September 29, 2014 and have detained the Head of Public Works of South Sumatra along with the Head of Committee for Wisma Atlet Development Jakabaring for Palembang Sea Games on March 12.
KPK suspected Rizal to have misused authority by inflating the budget for the project, causing a loss of Rp25 billion to the state.
Former general treasurer of the Democratic Party M. Nazaruddin, who became the defendant of the case, mentioned Alex Noerdin as one of the person who received the corruption money from the project.
According to Nazaruddin, Alex received a 2.5 percent fee from the down payment project worth Rp33 billion that is obtained from PT Duta Graha Indah, the company owned by Nazaruddin.
Alex is also suspected of having an inflated bank account. Based on the analysis from the Center for Financial Transaction Reporting andAnalysis, Alex and his wife (Eliza Alex), received a number of suspicious funds, but not from the Wisma Atlet project. On May 20 2011, Eliza’s account received a Rp1.9 billion wire transfer from Hendrik Lie, PT Grazia Prima Anugrah Director. The transaction pattern is in real-time gross settlement. The company is a partner of the south Sumatra government.
