TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bakrie Group's media and broadcasting subsidiary PT Visi Media Asia Tbk (VIVA) is targeting business growth of more than nine percent this year. VIVA president director Anindya N. Bakrie said the target is in line with the projected growth of Indonesia's TV industry, which is pegged at eight to nine percent this year.
Last year, VIVA booked Rp1.35 trillion in revenue, a 61.2 percent annual growth, with a net profit of Rp119 billion. Bakrie said the growth was supported by ad revenues from World Cup sponsors.
To maintain its positive performances, VIVA strategizes on focusing focus on their core businesses only, which are free-to-air TV and news channels. Another strategy is to optimize in-house production that last year grew 70 percent.
Sometime ago, VIVA subsidiary oPT Intermedia Capital Tbk (MDIA) announced a dividend payout of Rp39.21 billion or Rp10 per share, which was the equivalent of 11.1 percent of 2014's net profit.
