20 April 2015 15:42 WIB
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – House lawmakers will appoint a new Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governor to replace Halim Alamsyah, who is due to retire in mid-22015.
“The appointment will be done today,” said Fadel Muhammad, the head of the House’s Commission XI overseeing finance and development planning, when opening fit-and-proper tests for three candidates for the position.
The three are Dody Budi Waluyo, Erwin Rijanto and Hendy Sulistiowati. According to BI senior deputy governor Mirza Adityaswara, the trio were BI’s best hopefuls.
Fadel said the new BI deputy governor would be announced at 7:30 p.m., and that the selection would conclude after the candidates presented their visions and missions before the House.
“Actually, each faction has already had their own preferred candidate, but things might change if a candidate delivers a good presentation,” he said.
Separately, Mirza said, “Whoever gets selected will be capable of making strategic decisions.” Dody is scheduled as the first presenter for the selection.
