TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Susi Pudjiastuti, Marine and Fisheries Affairs Minister insisted on sinking the Hai Fa ship, which has been proven to be involved in illegal fishing and has caused state losses. "[The ship] has violated many rules," Susi said last weekend.
The sinking, as Susi explained, will be carried out to prove that there is no discrimination on how the government treated large ships and small ships. "This is proof of how serious we are in eradicating illegal fishing," Susi said.
Mas Achmad Santosa, Chief of the Anti Illegal Fishing Taskforce, said that the process of gathering evidence related to Hai Fa is proceeding well because of the cooperation between the Marine and Fisheries Affairs Ministry with the investigators of the Indonesian Navy, Attorney General office, and several experts.
However, Achmad refused to elaborate what new evidence and strategies that will be employed to bring the Hai Fa to justice.
