DPR Approves Nomination of Budi Gunawan as Deputy Police Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Fraction of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Kadir Karding said that the nomination of Budi Gunawan as Deputy Chairman of the National Police has won approval from the House of Representatives (DPR).
"Almost all fractions give their support for the nomination of Budi Gunawan,” he said on Friday, 17 April 2015.
Karding also said that the move is based on a number of factors.
He said that the House considered Budi to have adequate competence as he once went through the fit and proper as the candidate of the national police chief although his inauguration was finally cancelled by President Joko Widodo.
"He also has a good relations with the national police chief,” Kardin added.
Therefore, he said that he believed that the new police chief would not find many difficulties managing the national police.
"Working coordination between them (national police chief and Budi Gunawan) will be faster and more solid,” he said.
Commenting on the opinion of some that question the nomination of Budi n because he was named as a graft suspect, Karding said that the naming has been revoked by the pretrial ruling.
"It’s clear. Aside from the pretrial ruling, there are no other legal facts,” he said.
