TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said that Jakarta city officials would still work during the 60th commemoration of the Asian African Conference (AAC) as activities within the city government would not be affected by the event.

"I think there’s no need for officials to have a day off,” Basuki said in Jakarta on Saturday.

Basuki also said that most of the programs of the event will be held at hotels and said if the city officials are given a day off, it will cause many works left unattended after they return to work.

However, he said that he would listen to the opinion from Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah about the importance of city officials taking a day off.

For the record, the opening ceremony of the event is set to be held in Jakarta on April 19, 2015 while the peak event will be done on April 24, 2015.

In the meantime, in Bandung, all world leaders are slated to join Historical Walk event. They are also expected to deliver remarks and to attend a luncheon at the official house of West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan.
