TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Around 1,702 personnel of the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) were deployed in securing the 60th Asian-African Conference (AAC) which falls on April 19 to 24, 2015 in Jakarta and Bandung.
Thousands of personnel are spread to swipe the street vendors (PKL) ranging from Soekarno Hatta airport, Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) to Presidential Palace.
Head of City's Satpol PP, Kukuh Hadi Santoso, said that the personnel are asked to participate in maintaining the security and order outside of the venue during the conference. For instance at the delegation’s hotel, pedestrian bridge, as well as along protocol roads which are passed by the delegation.
“Since satpol PP does not included in the inner security, we gonna do our best to assist the Army and Police,” he said on Friday.
Santoso expressed in accordance with Satpol PP main task and function (Tupoksi), his party will swipe the street vendor and people with social welfare problem known as PMKS as well as secured the illegal banners which transverse on roads. “We have to control the PKL and PMKS since the army and police have no authority to do that,” he explained.
Besides guarding the route access of the KAA participants, three personnel will also be placed in every pedestrian bridge to anticipate the crowd as well as PMKS and PKL.
“Three personnel are placed in pedestrian bridge. Afraid of something bad happens when one of presidents is passing. However, the sterilization is done three weeks ago,” he uttered.
Santoso added, Satpol PP is commissioned to welcome the delegations in Soekarno Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma airport by wearing the Bala Krama (kingdom’s troop) uniform.
