TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Newly-installed National Police chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti said he was ready to supply the Corruption Eradication Commision (KPK) with more investigators to boost the synergy between the two law enforcement agencies in battling corruption.
“We will prepare more investigators,” said Badrodin on Friday.
According to Badrodin, he will prioritize corruption eradication programs and team up with the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and the KPK.
“We will also work with correctional institutions to step up efforts in eradicating corruption,” he said, adding that corruption was a challenge not only for KPK, but also all law enforcement agencies.
The KPK now has 60 investigators, confining them to handle only four to five cases at once. The KPK's counterpart in neighboring Malaysia, as a comparison, with total population of around 30 million, has 500 investigators.
