TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Democrat chair Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said his party would continue the Jokowi administration’s development programs should it become the ruling party again in the country’s 2019 general election.
“If we prevail again in 2019, we will continue the good programs from the Joko Widodo government, we don’t have to change them,” said SBY—his popular name—in his opening address at his party’s national gathering of Proclaimers and Founder Communication Forum at Sahid Hotel on Thursday night, April 16, 2015.
SBY said his party was not intent on altering sound programs from a previous government. “That is a wise nation,” he said. “But let us do what we must do in the future,” the ex-president said.
He said the people would be content seeing a leader who preserved programs deemed working from a previous administration. “We continue to the good ones, while thanking our previous leaders,” he said. “Those not good enough, we’ll fix them.”
According to SBY, this sort of action was the true meaning of sustainable leadership in the country. “That’s the stance of the Democrats: clear, constructive, and without concealed agendas,” he said.
