TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) stated that the Smart City app has another function in addition for just monitoring the city's environment.  Through the app, Ahok could monitor employees who are working and skipping the city administration office.

“There are currently 300 employees of the Transportation Department who switched off the app,” Ahok said in City Hall on Tuesday, April 14.

Ahok explained that those employees have turned off the Rapid Response to Public Opinion (Cepat Respons Opini Publik, or CROP) app installed in their smartphones.

Through the app, they will receive complaints and reports from residents that are sent through apps from QLUE, email address dki@jakarta.go.id, Twitter page @jakartagoid, Facebook page Jakarta.go.id, PetaJakarta.org, LAPOR 1708, and other channels.

Its mechanism, Ahok said, will detect the whereabouts of employees through this app.  Field employee’s smartphone will be installed with a CROP app.

Officials with the closest position to the location will receive a task from the control center.  Officials will visit the specified location and snap pictures of their work results.  The pictures will be sent back to the control center and the informer.

Ahok suspected the reason that those employees switched off the app is so their whereabouts would not be detected and be free from their duties.

Ahok said that those data would become a material to evaluate employee’s performances.  Changes will be made after the 2015 City Budget has been passed.  “We will evaluate it later,” Ahok said.
