TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini said that the city government was ready to provide health tourism in the city in the hope that Surabaya residents would not have to go abroad to get medical services.
At the opening ceremony of the ‘Surabaya Health Season’ event at the city hall on Sunday, 12 April 2015, Risma said that although the city does not have natural resources and natural beauties to support its tourism, the city has potentials that can be utilized to be made as a new tourism attraction.
"Health industry is one of the potentials that must be developed into health tourism,” she said.
As a trade and service city, Risma said, Surabaya must capitalize on the service sectors that it can offer.
“We must begin offering health service offered in a special package,” she added, adding that the idea first surfaced by the fact that many Surabaya residents prefer to go abroad to medical services than to have medical services in Surabaya.
