TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tony Spontana, spokesman for the Attorney General Office (AGO), said on Tuesday, APril 7, 2015, that death row inmate from the Philippines, Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso, will be transferred to Nusakambangan from Wirogunan prison in Yogyakarta this week.
Mary Jane was sentenced to death in 2010 for smuggling 2.6 kilograms of heroin to Yogyakarta. Her plea for clemency was rejected by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in December 2014.
Tony said that Mary's transfer does not necessary mean that the AGO had already set a date for the second wave of execution. Since the plan was announced last January, no exact date has been set for the execution.
"We will first review the latest development after the court ruling on Bali Nine. There will be some steps before the AGO announces the date for the execution," said Tony.
