TEMPO.CO, Kuala Lumpur - After teaming up with South Korea last year, the Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI) have signed a collaboration deal with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) this time to develop skill of the young athletes. The decreasing performance of national shuttlers have become the main focus of PBSI.
The cooperation includes exchange of young athletes and co-research to increase the athletes’ performance.
The signing was done at Putra stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur during the Malaysia Open tournament. BAM was represented by its President Tengku Mahleel Tengku Ariff and deputy Norza Zakariam while PBSI was represented by its Secretary General Anton Subowo and the Head of International Relationship, Bambang Rudianto.
“Malaysian athletes can then participate in the training in Indonesia and Korea, and so do Indonesian and Korean athletes can participate in training in Malaysia,” said Tengku Mahleel.
“Malaysia is good at singles, and we are good at doubles. We can complement each other. Moreover, Korea is well known for their advanced sport science,” Anton said.
