TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As much as 600 tons of mangosteen originated from the Lebak District, Banten, have been exported to Japan market since December 2014 until March 2015, as demands are quite high.
"We received a report that the Lebak mangosteen supplied to Japan is cultivated by Cidikit Village farmers from Bayah subdistrict," said Yuntani, Head of Agriculture Infrastructure Department in Lebak District on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.
According to Yuntani, the advantage of Cidikit Village mangosteen is its sour taste and its lack of sap. The Cidikit village mangosteen is considerably large in size and weighs somewhere around 120 to 150 grams each.
The people of Japan are very fond of Lebak mangosteen, which are being supplied through an exporter company from Sukabumi, West Java.
To support the farmers, the local government continued to increase the quality and productivity of the mangosteens in order to meet the demands of foreign markets.
