TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Netherland–based truck manufacturing company DAF, opens its first showroom in Surabaya in an effort to tap in to the road transportation market in East Indonesia region. The company works in cooperation with PT Integral Motor Indonesia (IMI).
"For us, Surabaya is a strategic location to open a first showroom in Indonesia because it's close to Jakarta and Kalimantan," IMI Managing Director Markus Suryaatmadja said in Surabaya on Wednesday, April 1, 2015.
Surabaya is also considered to provide access to the eastern part of Indonesia, especially to introduce the new brand in the country.
For its short-term goal, IMI will focus on introducing DAF to the Indonesian market as well as attempting to compete with similar products from Japan.
"We have not set [certain number] as a target, but rather [focused] on public awareness," said Markus.
Ron Bonsen, Director of Marketing and Sales of DAF, said that the presence of DAF trucks in Surabaya proves the company's optimism on its ability to enter the Indonesian market.
