TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta Road Agency is putting efforts to fix some damaged roads and potholes along the city's protocol roads in preparation for the Asian-African Conference (AAC) to be held in Jakarta, on April 19 to 23, 2015.

"Four main roads are currently being repaired: Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Gatot Subroto, and Jalan HR Rasuna Said," the agency's road maintenance department head, Suko Wibowo, stated on Monday.

According to Wibowo, the repair work on the four protocol roads has being going on for the past two weeks. The road agency has set a target to complete the maintenance work by April 10.

"The Jakarta road agency had assigned two task force units to carry out the maintenance, South Jakarta and Central Jakarta road agency had also formed two task force units each," Wibowo stated.

Moreover, he remarked that the Jakarta road agency has coordinated with PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) for the road maintenance work at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin due to the ongoing development work related to the MRT project being carried out on both roads.

"So far, the road maintenance work in Jalan Merdeka Utara and Banteng Square has been completed," Wibowo stated.

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia will host the Asian-African Conference 2015 to mark the 60th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership in Jakarta and Bandung, on April 22 to 24, 2015.

As many as 109 Asian and African countries along with 17 observer countries and 25 international organizations will be invited.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir recently remarked that some 20 events have been planned to enliven the AAC commemoration.

Among the events outlined for the AAC are the Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) on April 19 and the Ministerial Meeting (MM) on April 20.

On April 21, the organizing committee will hold the Asian-African Business Conference on April 22 to 23, 2015.

Several heads of states will participate in the Historical Walk event to be held on April 24 in Bandung, the spokesman explained.
