Religious Ministry Instructs Civil Servants to Monitor ISIS

TEMPO.CO, Subang - The West Java Religious Affairs Ministry Office has instructed civil servants to monitor and investigate Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the province.
"We have instructed them to be our eyes and ears to anticipate [ISIS movement]," Achmad Buchori, the head of West Java Religious Affairs Ministry in Subang on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.
Buchori revealed that his visit to Subang was to directly monitor the situation and condition in the fields. Buchori added that his institution will cooperate with the National Intelligence Agency in monitoring the ISIS movement.
Buchori claimed that the ISIS movement in West Java is currently not at the alarming state, despite the vulnerability of the ISIS movement in the province. Buchori said that he would initiate an endeavor to approach ISIS followers to return to their normal lives.
Musyfiq Amrullah, the chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Subang chapter, appreciated the ministry’s efforts to prevent ISIS movement in West Java. Musfiq said that the government earlier had not taken a firm action and left a gap for radical groups to thrive.
