TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Five convicted terrorists have been transferred from the prison facility at Kelapa Dua's Mobile Brigade headquarters in Depok, West Java, to Nusakambangan Island in Cilacap, Central Java.
It is known that the inmates were transferred in two separate vehicles—an Isuzu Elf and a Toyota Avanza—which arrived at Cilacap's Wijayapura Harbour on Tuesday, at around 7:15 a.m. local time.
The motorcade was escorted by the National Police's Counter-Terrorism Special Unit Densus 88.
The inmates were then immediately transferred onto the island on MV. Pengayoman IV, which then docked at Sodong Harbour on Nusakambangan Island.
The five terrorism convicts include Ahmad Taufik, who were sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for plotting to bomb Myanmar's Embassy, and Iswahyudi, a.k.a Iis, who was sentenced to three years and eight months behind bars for his involvement in Abu Umar's terrorist cell.
Other convicts include Agus Widarto, who will spend 11 years behind bars, Priyo Hutomo a.k.a Iyo, who was sentenced to four years in jail for his involvement with Abu Roban's terrorist cell, and Topan Amir a.k.a Topan, who was handed an eight years' imprisonment for his involvement in a terrorist plot in Tasikmalaya, West Java.
Upon arriving on Nusakambangan, the five convicts were separated into different prisons on the island that was most famously known for its correctional facilities. Ahmad Taufik is housed in Kembang Kuning Prison, Iis is placed in Besi Prison, Agus Widarto is being held in Pasir Putih Prison, Iyo is detained in Batu Prison, while Topan is imprisoned at Permisan Prison.
The head of corrections for the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Affairs' Central Java Office, Yushpahruddin, confirmed that he had received the appropriate notifications of the transfer of prisoners onto Nusakambangan.
"That said, I have yet to receive further info on the technical details of the transfer," said Yushpahruddin at Cilacap.
