TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trimedya Pandjaitan, Chairman of the Council Board of the National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said that the party has decided to invite President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Veep Jusuf Kalla to attend the party's national congress in Bali on April 9 to April 12. "[Jokowi] is a loyal cadre. There is no way that he will not attend the congress," said Trimedya.
The relationship between Jokowi and PDI-P has gained the spotlight in the past couple of months. PDI-P even take part in stalling the fit and proper test of Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti.
Trimedya said that the congress will once again consolidate to appoint Megawati Soekarnoputri as the chairwoman. However, Trimedya expressed his concern that there might be other parties trying to destroy PDI-P.
Trimedya claimed that there has been a survey that puts Jokowi as the proper leader of the party, setting Megawati aside. However, Trimedya is assured that Megawati is a senior politician that can tackle such issue with ease.
