TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fresh shuttlers will be composing Indonesian team for the 2015 SEA Games which will be held in the upcoming June in Singapore. The team is targeting seven medals in the event including two gold medals.

Jonathan Christie, Firman Abdul Kholik and Rosyita Eka Putri are among the new names who will defend Indonesian badminton team in Singapore

“For SEA Games this year, we are trying to give more responsibility to the future players,” said Secretary General of the Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI) Achmad Budhiarto, as reported by PBSI official site on Friday, March 27.

PBSI’s Head of Development and Achievement Rexy Mainaky said the target is quite realistic. Two golds are each targeted to be obtained by men’s double team and mixed-double team, considering both teams have been showing a stable performance.

“We also take our opponents’ power into consideration. We hope that the silver medal target can motivate the women’s single team,” Rexy said.

“It’s not a downturn, but have to be realistic. We have chances in women’s double, but the opponents’ must have studied too.”

Indonesian badminton team brought home three golds, three silvers, and one bronze from 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar. Gold medals were attributed to Bellaetrix Manuputty, Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro, and Muhammad Rijal/Debby Susanto. Three silvers were attributed to Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka, Berry Angriawan/Ricky Karanda Suwandi, and Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, and one bronze was won by Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo.
