TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia has evacuated 141 of its 175 citizens who have registered themselves to be evacuated from Yemen due to unsafe conditions in the country, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday as reported by Antara News.

Some 4,159 Indonesian citizens are currently living in various regions across Yemen, mostly in the southern regions that are more favorable. Of them, 2,686 are students, while 1,488 others are migrant workers.

Considering the increasing tension in Yemen, the Indonesian Government has urged its people to register themselves for immediate dispatch home.

The Indonesian embassy in Sanaa has been carrying out limited operations to facilitate the evacuation process and ensure the safety of its citizens.

It has also prepared contingency plans in case of any emergency. The Indonesian embassy in Sanas has also opened a 24-hour hot line +967 738 115 555.

The Indonesian Government has been monitoring developments in Yemen so that right steps can be taken when needed. It has asked all its citizens in that country to remain alert and stay away from conflict areas.

After Yemeni President Abd-Rabhu Mansour Hadi requested for help, Gulf states under the leadership of Saudi Arabia have intensified battle against Shiite Houthis in Yemen.

The war has spread along the Arab peninsula since September 2014 when Houthi occupied Sanaa, the Yemeni capital, and forced into Sunni areas and drove out President Hadi from the capital.
