TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf "JK" Kalla said on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the Vice Presidential Palace that he had an administrator managing his Twitter account on behalf of his name.
"How can I be active [on Twitter]? I might be bullied by the whole country," JK said.
Currently, JK's Twitter account @Pak_JK is followed by 1.4 million people. JK mostly posted photographs related to his activities as vice president, such as meeting guests and being a speaker.
JK said that Twitter can be utilized positively for campaign, social and family purposes. However, Kalla said that he preferred to meet his supporters directly than using Twitter, even if it is free.
"I don't want to get bulled by people. It won't be easy," the Vice President said.
Earlier on Thursday, March 26, 2015, Twitter CEO Dick Castolo met JK at the Vice Presidential Palace to discuss the huge number of internet users in Indonesia that has an impact on the development of the cyber world. As a communication platform, Twitter has planned to build cooperation with the Indonesian government.
Twitter also inaugurated its representative office in Jakarta on Thursday, March 26, 2015, to expand its business in Indonesia through partnerships with mobile operators, entertainment and the government.
"This is one of the reasons for opening an office here," Castolo said.
