TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Water level at Ciliwung River has been significantly rising on Sunday, March 22, at Katulampa Dam in Bogor. The level reaches 80 centimeter, which regarded as a flood alert status 4 for the vicinity of Jakarta.
Andi Sudirman, Chief of Watch of Katulampa Dam Bogor, said that the increase of water level in the dam occured at 4pm after heavy rain hits some areas of Bogor. “The region of Puncak has been washed by rain since 4pm. This triggers an increase in Ciliwung water level,” Andi said on Sunday.
Andi explained that with the 80 centimeter water height at Katulampa Dam, it means that water volume at Ciliwung River reaches 90,048 liters per second towards Jakarta. “The amount of water will increase if the areas of Bogor and Depok are also washed by heavy rain,” he said.
Andi advised residents living in the area along Ciliwung River, especially residents of Jakarta living in an area prone to flood, to raise awareness of the arrival of the water with a sizeable amount. “Water is expected to arrive in Jakarta within the next 10 to 12 hours,” he said.
The vicinity of Bogor, especially in Puncak, is still drenched by heavy rain, making the water level at Katulampa Dam to potentially rising.
