Jokowi Gains More Supports to Lead PDIP Than Mega, Puan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pollster Poltracking Indonesia released its new survey results on Sunday, March 22, 2015, showing that descendants of former President Soekarno are no longer recommended to lead the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in the future.

“Leadership regeneration must be a prioritized agenda in PDIP,” Poltracking Indonesia Executive Director Hanta Yudha said in Jakarta on Sunday, March 22, 2015.

The survey showed that Megawatu Soekarnoputri, Puan Maharani and Prananda Prabowo as figures who were mostly not recommended to lead PDIP. Mega and Puan gained were respectively supported by 2.2 percent of the respondents. Meanwhile, 2.98 percent of the respondents voted Prananda.

The percentage of supports for the Soekarno’s heirs was even lower than those for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Pramono Agung, and Ganjar Pranowo, who respectively gained 29.35 percent, 28.73 percent and 19.85 percent of the votes.

The respondents of the survey include 200 experts and opinion leaders in politics, justice and sociology, as well as humanism and journalism. The survey employed the focus group discussion as the research method conducted from December 2014 to February 2015.

In this survey, included in PDIP’s cadres that are potential PDIP’s chairperson candidates were Maurarar Sirait, Hasto Kristianto and Tjahjo Kumolo.
