TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has released the names of the 16 Indonesian citizens that have been placed under custody by Turkish security authorities.

Whereas 10 of the Indonesian citizens apprehended at Gaziantep originated from East Java, the remaining six in custody hails from West Java.

"The 10 individuals from East Java are relatives of Achsanul Huda and M. Hidayah," said Polri's Head of Public Relations Brig. Gen. Anton Charliyan, at Polri's Headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday, March 19, 2015. "Hidayah is a known terrorist who had recently died in Tulungagung in East Java," continued Charliyan.

Achsanul Huda is reported to have been killed in Syria, along with Siswanto - a resident of Lamongan, East Java - both of who are suspected to be a part of an established terrorist network, said Charliyan.

The names of the 16 citizens who are currently being held by Turkish authorities have been released by Polri, and their identities are as follows:

1. Ririn Andrian Sawir

2. Qorin Munadiyatul Haq

3. Nayla Syahidah

4. Jauza Firdaus Nuzula

5. Ikrimah Waliturohman

6. Alya Nur Islam

11. Daeng Stanzah

12. Ifah Syarifah

Currently, Polri's joint-team is currently negotiating with the Turkish government to grant them the authority to directly interrogate the 16 Indonesians being held by Turkey's security authorities. "We are hoping that we could at least interrogate them directly," said Charliyan.

It is known that Polri's Counter-Terrorism Special Unit (Densus 88), along with the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) has dispatched a team to Turkey to investigate the motive behind their departure to Turkey and the identity of their sponsors.

It is also known that the joint-team has yet to interrogate the apprehended individuals directly, due to restrictions imposed by Turkish authorities - that said, Charliyan assured that those under custody are in good health.

Previously, the 16 Indonesian nationals were arrested on March 4, 2015 by Turkish security authorities while attempting to travel towards the Syrian border without any valid travel documents.
