TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Shiratama Parfait arrived on our table with red bean paste, mochi, cor chips, jelly, cream, and 12-centimeter green tea soft cream. It tempted our appetite, despite the cold weather that shrouded Jakarta that day.
Shiratama Parfait is a signature menu of Shirokuma, a dessert shop that has attracted the crowd at Pantai Indah Kapuk area, North Jakarta, approximately 2-kilometer away from the Jakarta Gulf. The soft cream melted perfectly when it touches down the tongue, confirming why it is called parfait – a French word for ‘perfect’.
Soft cream is different from ice cream for the freezing process and it has lower fat content. The texture is also smoother than regular ice cream.
Shirokuma’s green tea or macha cream is not too sweet. The green tea flavor is more prominent.
“I really like matcha, that’s why I came to Shirokuma when it was first opened,” said Aldi Pratama, a 22-year-old guest from Kemang, South Jakarta as quoted by Koran Tempo on Tuesday, March 10.
Mochi Waffle is another menu offered in this dessert shop. It is skewed with a Pocky-Stick with various flavor of coating. The waffle is still crispy even after being topped with the soft cream. You can compare it with the waffle sold at Crematology in Senopati, South Jakarta.
Shirokuma is one of tens desserts cafes thriving in Pantai Indah Kapuk in the past two years. The caffes offer diverse kind of dessert such as Taiwanese es campur (mixed-fruit soup) called Hong Tang and gellato at the North Pole cafe.
