TEMPO.CO, Kampar – The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation will build a palm oil processing plant in Sei Pinang Village in Kampar, Riau. The factory, designed to produce 120 tons of CPO per hour, will cost the Malaysian company Rp1 trillion in investments.
"The factory will launch and start its operations on the 12th of March, Kampar Regent Jefry Noer said in Riau yesterday.
Kampar District has 700,000 hectares of palm oil plantations with 37 processing factories. But none of them processes derivative products.
"[With the opening of this plant], it can accommodate palm fruits from the locals' plantations and improve the economy of the people," he said.
Currently, the Indonesian and Malaysian governments are focusing on the use of vegetable oil as fuel (biofuel). Biodiesel program is expected to be the answer to stabilize the CPO prices this year.
