TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yenny Sucipto, secretary general of the Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency (FITRA), said that the progress of Jakarta's infrastructure projects could be hampered if the Jakarta government utilizes the 2014 Regional Budget.
"Projects proposed for 2015 that are different from those in 2014 will not be accommodated [by the Regional Budget," she said on Monday, March 9, 2015.
She said FITRA had not collected data on projects that would be affected. However, several projects such as flood mitigation could not be carried out if it was not included in the 2014 Regional Budget.
Similarly, large projects such as the mass rapid transit and other important programs like the Jakarta Smart Card and Jakarta Health Card, which were planned to be carried out in 2015, will be disrupted because it were not included in the 2014 Regional Budget.
Referring to the 2014 Regional Budget will also affect economic growth because growth target in 2015 will be different compared to 2014.
Therefore, Yenny advised the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) to accept the Home Affairs Ministry's decision that favors Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama's version of the 2015 Regional Budget. Yenny also added that if the DPRD wants to revise the budget, it will be better if the revision is made four to five months after the 2015 Regional Budget has been approved and carried out.
