Radio Organization Asked to Synergize with Jakarta Administration

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe involvement of the Indonesian Amateur Radio Organization (Orari) in terms of disaster handling in the capital is not a new thing. The organization's concern is expected to be maintained and could keep on synergy with Jakarta Provincial Government, Antara News reported.

Assistant Deputy of Jakarta Governor for Controlling and Population Sector Marullah Matali said the Orari is very helpful. They helped to convey the development results to Jakartans. Moreover, they could cooperate well during disaster.

"It is important to cooperate with Orari as they could be our funnel for conveying the development results. As you know, they able to cooperate with the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) and firefighter," stated Matali, on the sidelines of the inauguration of 269 Orari members and caretakers, at City Hall, Saturday.

Additionally, its existence also helps Jakarta government to monitor illegal radio frequencies. "There are still many amateur radio stations used by irresponsible people. We hope the Orari could keep monitoring it," he expressed.

The organization was also hoped able to cooperate with the Regional Working Units (SKPD). One of them is with official websites belonging Jakarta government.

"City problems such as flood, trash, transportation, environment preservation, health, and education, should be socialized routinely," he ordered.

Jakarta Orari Chairman, Budi Rianto Halim promised to keep cooperating with Jakarta government, especially to convey information related to city development. "We're also focus during disaster," he uttered.

His side is also ready to monitor and report illegal radio frequencies intensively.

"So far, our frequencies are between 144-148 mhz. We will report if the illegal frequency is found," he stressed out.
