TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has confirmed that the second phase of the execution of two Bali Nine members, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, will not be carried out this week. They claimed that there are still unfinished preparations in Nusakambangan and legal measures made by several convicts.
"Facilities and technical preparations are not yet 100 percent," said AGO spokesperson Tony Spontana on Friday, March 6, 2015.
Tony said that Attorney General Prasetyo will hold a press conference to confirm the execution time and the number of convicts to be executed in the second phase. So far, there are 10 people that will be executed in accordance with the clemency rejection letter issued by President Joko Widodo.
Tony said that there have been nine death row inmates that are already in Nusakambangan prison. One inmate from the Philippines, Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso, has not been transported as she is currently undergoing a review hearing at the Yogyakarta Court. The AGO is still waiting for the decision regarding Mary's transfer to Nusakambangan by the Supreme Court.
The AGO is also still waiting for comparative results from Central Java Police's health unit regarding the health condition of Brazilian death row inmate Rodrigo Guarte. The AGO claimed Rodrigo to be in a good physical and mental condition, but were still waiting for the official result from the police.
