TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Java Jazz Festival 2015 is set to kick off on March 6 to March 8 2015 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran. The event will adopt a theme of "Exploring Indonesia", displaying Balinese barong as its main design.
"This year's theme 'Exploring Indonesia' allows us to explore new talents in Java Jazz Festival," said Eki Puradiredja, program coordinator of the Java Festival Production, in a press conference. Moreover, Eki said that the concept assimilates various cultures in Indonesia into one theme.
"Last year we took on puppet as our theme. This year we decided to have barong to represent Indonesia as a whole," said Dewi Gontha, President Director of the Java Festival Production.
Eki said that for this year, the Java Jazz Festival will provide 16 different stages, which hoped to bring 130,000 audiences during the three-day event. "Last year we had 350 musicians. This year we have a significant increase, 470 musicians in total," he said.
