TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Pratikno, said that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has asked the National Police Headquarter to cease all forms of criminalization against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and its supporters. "The order is absolute. So let's make sure it happens," he said.
Pratikno denied that the President had done nothing to stop the criminalization against KPK. He claimed that Jokowi has ordered the Police to stop any criminalization attempt. Jokowi, according to Pratikno, said that he did not want such problem to re-emerge in the future.
As for Denny Indrayana, Pratikno said that Jokowi has asked all parties to cease criminalizing the former Law and Human Rights Minister.
Previously, KPK commissioners and investigators were charged with various crimes. KPK supporter Denny Indrayana also experienced the treatment, as he was accused of committing corruption on the passport online system project. Denny, in his defense, said that the system helps secure the state budget.
Meanwhile, KPK acting commissioner Johan Budi also alleged for making contact with graft convict former Democrat Treasurer, M. Nazaruddin, in 2011. KPK internal watchdogs, however, denied the allegation, saying that Johan met Nazar when he was not yet a convict.
